Auto Prep Center of Shawano recently announced that the Shawano Community Middle School was selected to receive this year’s ExxonMobil Educational Alliance grant.

In 12 of the previous 13 years, Auto Prep has secured grant money to supplement science and technology programs for local schools. This year’s award of $500 brings the total to nearly $6,300 that the local business has provided to assist schools with needy projects in times of tight budgets.

The Shawano Middle School began working on its grant application last spring, as they identified a number of potential projects indicating they were capable of receiving such a grant.

Shawano Middle School Principal Mary Kramer says they will likely use the funds for improving technology in the school’s library, which was something they were unable to do with this year’s budget.
