PULASKI, WI, – For the first time since 2001, the Shawano Girls Basketball team is a win from State. Shawano used a big second half to top Marinette 49-39 in the Sectional Semifinal.
Leah Nordin finished with 22 points, after being held to 2 points in the first half. Shawano’s defense frustrated Marinette, forcing double digit turnovers and rushed shots. In the first half, it was Marinette’s defense that was tough, keeping Shawano from working much inside.
Ella Stuber made up for it by hitting three big threes to put the Hawks in control.
The Hawks will play on Saturday against Rice Lake in the Sectional Final for a chance to play at State for the first time since 1989.
