Steven J. “Steve” Weisnicht, age 52, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. The son of the late Marvin and Ardella (Kroening) Weisnicht, Steve was born in Shawano on May 5, 1972. Steve grew up in Shawano and graduated from Shawano High School in 1990. He lived his life to the fullest and I am certain he passed with no regrets. The youngest of three athletic boys – it was Steve’s job to keep his mom actively on her toes. Steve participated in many competitions, games, and tournaments throughout his life. His love and stellar athleticism won him several awards, trophies, newspaper articles, and stories from many. After graduating high school, Steve took a passion for installing flooring. It was his attention to detail and his perfectionism that would help him advance from working as a subcontractor at Home Interiors in Appleton, WI to owning his own business, Installation Professionals. Many can recall Steve’s purple work van and his standout license plate “rug burn”. His dad, Marv, was so proud of him and loved bragging him up. Once Steve became a father, he instantly inherited Marv’s boasting rights. Steve’s greatest love was his three children. Their love for him was just as great. He was so proud of each of them. Each one inheriting Steve’s natural athletic abilities. Even with his health issues, he made as many of their sporting events as possible. Even if it meant driving his scooter through a snowstorm. He was one of their biggest cheerleaders and confidant. It is with no surprise that he took his last breath being cheered on by his daughter as she painted a clear picture of a baseball field for him. Telling him; he was up to bat, ducks on the pond and run home where grandma, grandpa and uncle Jerry are waiting. Steve stomped hard on heaven’s home plate at 2:28pm, symbolic to his jersey #28.
Steve is survived by his three children; Carter Weisnicht, Crew Weisnicht and Creden Weisnicht; mother of his children and friend, Shannon Weisnicht; brother, Jeff Weisnicht; sister-in-law, Diane Weisnicht; niece and nephews and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Weisnicht, mother, Ardella Weisnicht, brother, Jerry Weisnicht, and grandparents.
A memorial service for Steve will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 am and continue until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers and plants the family asks for either monetary donations to assist with funeral expenses or a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
