Ronald E. Raasch, age 81 of Shawano, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, December 10, 2024, at his home in Shawano. Ron was born on April 14, 1943, in Shawano, a son of the late William and Lois (Allender) Raasch. He attended the Shawano schools and graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1961. Following high school, Ron was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Team. His baseball career was put on hold as he was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country for three years. On June 17, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia “Pat” Pigeon at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. The couple then moved to Shawano where they raised their family. Ron had been employed as a City of Shawano Patrol Officer for over 35 years. His wife, Patricia, preceded him in death on March 9, 2021.
Throughout Ron’s life, he played guitar for numerous bands in the Shawano area. He was a skilled musician not only for playing lead guitar but also the violin, steel guitar, and numerous other instruments. He was an excellent artist, creating many paintings with oils. Ron was a huge sports fan, especially baseball. He coached little league baseball teams in Shawano. Ron is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Survivors include his three sons, Michael (Stefanie) Raasch of West Bend, Tim (Cindy) Raasch of Sheboygan, and Tyler Raasch of Shawano; two grandchildren, Hunter and Caulden Raasch; brother, William (Carla Rae) Raasch of Lexington, KY; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Raasch in 2004; and sister, Arline Raasch in 2021.
A funeral service for Ronald E. Raasch will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Scott Ludford will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30 am and continue until the time of service. AmVets Post #10 will conduct military honors at the church. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials in Ronald’s name.
