Thomas Arlin Lundt, age 71 of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, November 14, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Tom was born on September 30, 1953, a son of the late Lester and Winifred (Kersten) Lundt. Tom was raised in Green Lake, Wisconsin, where he was the middle child of five brothers and lived above the hardware store owned by his father. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and we are fairly certain that he graduated with the Class of 1979. On April 17, 1982, he was united in marriage to the former Wendy May Stolper. The marriage gave them three children, of which one was his favorite. A lifelong love of food, as evidenced by his Pillsbury Doughboy frame, led him to a long career as a food broker, restaurant manager and deli clerk. This passion was further supported by his legendary apple pies that he loved to bake with the help of his grandchildren using apples from his own backyard.
Perhaps the only thing Tom enjoyed more than food was trains. From taking lunch breaks on work trips at local switching yards, to a sprawling model train set in his basement, to somehow convincing his wife to purchase a home because it had train tracks practically running through the backyard. He truly was an engineer trapped in a chef’s body. Tom was a dutiful member of St. James Lutheran Church for over thirty years and was always steadfast in his faith. He led the Stephen Ministry Program for over twenty years, continually passionate about sharing the peace, love and word of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy; sons, Nate (Breanne), and Tim (Samantha); daughter, Abby (Jon); mother-in-law, Edie; and grandchildren, Katie, Amelia, Oliver, Emily, and Elijah. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny; fatherin-law, Harold; and brother-in-law, Carl.
A funeral service for Thomas will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Andrew Zobel will officiate. Interment will take place at Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, Tom has asked for monetary donations towards the Stephen Ministry program at St. James Lutheran Church.
