SHAWANO, WI- Ann Retzlaff, the former proprietor of Annie’s Campground in Gresham, has made significant legal motions in relation to her multiple criminal cases. Retzlaff is currently facing two separate sets of criminal charges.
The initial set of charges stems from a May 2021 traffic stop in Shawano County. Subsequently, additional charges were added following her April 20 arrest, which was related to warrants associated with her failure to appear in court for the initial charges. Furthermore, an additional charge for bail jumping was filed against her after an alleged unauthorized trip to Michigan. A trial for these charges, including fleeing from an officer, is scheduled for January 23.
The second set of charges against Retzlaff are in Sauk County, where she is accused of filing illegal liens against individuals involved in the foreclosure of the campground. An arraignment for these charges is scheduled for November 13.
On a recent development, attorney Michael Hughes has requested a psychiatric examination for Retzlaff, citing doubts about her competency.
Retzlaff herself filed a motion requesting the removal of Marathon County Judge Michael Moran from her case.
Retzlaff’s motion argues that her due process rights are in jeopardy, and she claims to be unlawfully incarcerated. She remains in jail, unable to post the cash bonds, which exceed $50,000. She asserts that the court’s perceived bias has left her with no liberties.
