Janette M. Probst, age 81 of Oshkosh, formerly of Bear Creek, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Matthews Senior Living of Neenah.
Janette Maxine Probst was born October 28, 1941 in Waupaca, WI daughter to the late Fayette & Maxine Foster. The family lived in Plainfield, WI while she was a child, and later relocated to the Fox Valley where Janette graduated from Neenah High School. She was united in marriage to George J. Probst on February 20, 1960. The couple started a family and moved to the Bear Creek area where they owned and operated a hardware store for about 15 years, called Gambles Store. Janette then worked behind the meat counter at Everson’s IGA, Clintonville; and later finished her working years retiring as a secretary in the parts department at Curwood in New London in 2000. Janette was blessed to be able to have traveled in all 50 states, as well as visited all the U.S. National Parks. She loved going on camping trips with her family and made many trips out West to visit her son Kevin. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bear Creek when she lived here, and helped with communion preparation and served in the school. Janette enjoyed reading old westerns from authors like Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour, and never was afraid to try a new restaurant or food.
