TCH Daily News has awarded Freedom as the most successful large school and Shiocton has the most successful small school this sports year. The award takes in account team and individual success in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons of 2022-2023. Large Team Schools are Division 1, 2 and 3. Small School teams are Division 4 and 5.
A point system was developed to score teams based on their success. The point system is listed below.

FREEDOM found their success in the Winter and Spring seasons. A State Championship in Softball along with success with Girls Track and Wrestling propelled them to the top of the leader board. Freedom had the highest scores of all area teams in all three sports seasons.
SHIOCTON had multiple competitors in boys track and girls track and came away with a State Championship on the boys side. The Chiefs also made the State Championship in Football in the Fall and Wrestling in the Winter.
HORTONVILLE – found success in the Spring with a trip to the State Baseball Championship and had a state champion wrestler in the Winter. Ben Smith was a State Champion thrower in Boys Track and the Girls Basketball team competed at State to lead the Polar Bears success.
FALL SPORTS SUMMARY
Shiocton was the last football team standing as they made it to the State Championship game and finished as a State Runner-Up. Freedom also had a long postseason run. In Volleyball, Wittenberg-Birnamwood made the State Tournament. Weyauwega-Fremont and Oconto Falls also had deep runs. Boys Soccer was highlighted by Pulaski with a trip to State. Seymour had a successful postseason as well. Shawano had one of best team Cross Country seasons for both boys and girls, qualifying for State in both. Freedom and Bonduel girls along with Gillett Boys also did well as a team.
WINTER SPORTS SUMMARY
Shiocton had the best overall finish with a State Runner-Up on the wrestling mats as a team. Individually, Hortonville had a State Champion in Wyatt Skeeba. Freedom and Coleman had multiple place winners at the Individual Tournament. On the girls side, New London, Oconto Falls and Bonduel all had State Champions, and place winners. Girls Basketball was highlighted by Hortonville as they qualified for State. Freedom and Bonduel also had big runs. On the boys side, New London made it the longest, finishing top 8.
SPRING SPORTS SUMMARY
Success came on the ball diamonds this year. Freedom and Iola-Scandinavia Softball both won a State Championship while Hortonville Baseball and New London Softball finished 2nd. Amherst Baseball had a good run. Bonduel Softball also found success in the postseason. Shiocton highlighted Track with a State Championship on the boys side, and multiple top six finishes. Hortonville had a State Champion boys thrower and New London had multiple place winning events from Kyle Wisniewski. Freedom Boys and Girls had many place winners. Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls had a big tournament led by Reece Rogowski. Manawa boys were successful and Iola Boys racked up points. Pulaski girls soccer found the most success.
