Anita Hartman, age 92, passed away on Friday March 31, 2023, at her home in Shawano. Anita was born in Shawano on February 10, 1931, to the late Edward and Seraphina (Krubsack) Hartman. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1949. Anita continued her education at UW-Oshkosh where she majored in English with minor in economics and history. She graduated from college in 1953. Anita went on to be a teacher at Bonduel High School where she taught English and American Literature. Forensics was also a passion of hers and she coached students for years, usually losing to Wittenberg. In 1993, she retired from teaching but enjoyed keeping in touch with numerous former students.
Anita was proud to be born and raised in Shawano and lived in the same house throughout her life. Her family owned a West Shore cottage which was in the family since she was in 6th grade. The Hartman family also owned and operated Retail Lumber in Shawano for many years. Anita was confirmed at St. James and later was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Anita is preceded in death by 1 brother, Glenn ‘Sam’ Hartman; and 1 sister, Lois (Lawrence ‘Bronc’) Kruse.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 4, 2023 at 1:00pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Reverend Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano from 11:30am until the time of service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
