State Volleyball: Chargers Fall In Semifinals; Xavier Wins Title

GREEN BAY, WI- The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Charger’s first trip to State was a short one, falling to Howards Grove in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-9.
The Chargers played with the three-time defending State Champions early on, but some errors and the hard hitting Tigers were too much.

Reese Rogowski had 11 of the teams 16 kills, but also had five errors along with London Metropulos. The Chargers seemed to out serve the Tigers as they had 15 aces, while Howards Grove had 14. The Tigers out blocked the Chargers 10-4 and added some long scoring runs to their win, by topping Wittenberg-Birnamwood in kill totals 42-16.

Xavier swept Bloomer in the Division 2 Semifinals 25-8, 25-16, 25-20. Halle Vande Hey had 13 kills and Mattea Kiepert had 12 in the Semifinal Victory.
The Hawks then went on to top Sauk Prairie 3-1 as they won the first two sets and pulled away for the State Championship in set 4.
Vande Hey had 15 kills in the Championship.

Appleton North fell to Divine Savior Holy Angels in straight sets in the Division 1 Semifinals. The Lightening lost 25-23, 25-17, 25-14.
North topped 3-1 in the Quarterfinals
