Larry was born April 15, 1942, in Italy, Texas, a son of the late Wilmer and Ina (Harris) Gorman. He attended Rankin and Ennis grade schools and Ennis High School where he received a football scholarship to attend the University of Texas. Larry played college football for three years, during which time his team won the Cotton Bowl. He majored in engineering and business, graduating with his BBA in 1965 from North Texas University.
Following his college graduation, Larry went to work for Texas Instruments for twenty years. He then was a partner in a startup company, DSC. Later, Larry travelled the world as a consultant for the Thomas Group. He then went to work for Texakoma, retiring in 2015. On December 3, 1997, Larry was united in marriage to the former Peggy Stoehr in McKinney, Texas. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Tigerton. Larry loved his Lord Savior, his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his church family and friends. He was a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan. He enjoyed driving fast cars, golfing, playing tennis, dancing, singing (he was a great singer), and country western music.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Tigerton; his sons, Ross (Debbie) Gorman of Houston, TX, Brian (Mary) Gorman of Dallas, TX, and Paul (Patricia) Gorman of McKinney, TX; his daughters, Jennifer (Reimer) Purcell of Holland and Vanessa (David) Mead of Rochester, NY; his first wife and mother of his sons, Joey Reynolds of McKinney, TX; eight grandchildren; his brothers, Lewis Gorman and Sam Gorman, both of Texas; his mother-in-law, Dolores Stoehr of Tigerton; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Gorman.
A time for friends and family to gather and celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Grace Reformed Church, 1102 S. 4th Ave., Wausau, Wisconsin 54401. Pastor Adam Jones will officiate. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and continue until the time of service. An additional service will be held in Texas on December 3, 2022.
