SHAWANO, WI- It took until the early morning hours, but Shawano County Chief Deputy is in line to be the next Sheriff of Shawano County.

Lenzner defeated Brad Olsen 4714 to 2742, which gave Lenzner about 63 percent of the vote total. The voters came out in large numbers, including those who would prefer to vote democrat. With Wisconsin being a partisan primary, voters would not be able to vote for Democratic candidates and Shawano County Sheriff in the election.

The race was close until the numbers came in from the City of Shawano after midnight. Lenzner won all the districts in the City, something the past Sheriff election winners have also done.

“The City of Shawano really turned things around for us and out west we had great support.”

Olsen’s biggest success came in Green Valley where he won 146-75, Hartland where he won 124-79, and Bonduel where he won 172-125. Olsen also won in the towns of Maple Grove, Washington and the Villages of Eland and Pulaski. Lenzner’s biggest wins were in Belle Plaine 252-106, Richmond 404-126 and the City of Shawano. Lenzner won 30 of the 43 municipalities.

“I am going to get some sleep for the first time in awhile and then I will get to work,” Lenzner said. “We are going to continue on with the things that we are doing at the Shawano County Sheriff’s office and I am looking forward to the first of the year.”

Lenzner said the campaign was clean and well run.

“I want to thank Brad Olsen for a great campaign and he made me work for this, so that is good, it makes me appreciate it more.”

As far as what is next, Lenzner said some of the good things like Drug Court, drug enforcement and their K9 program will continue.

“If something is running good, we are going to continue to make those things run good, but I am not afraid to bring in some fresh perspectives.”
