MADISON, WI- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says 35-million dollars in federal infrastructure funding will cover the cost of 40 projects in rural areas and small urban areas. Just under 28-million will go to projects in areas of Wisconsin with populations of less than five-thousand people. Wis-DOT (WISS-dot) points out that there were more than 300 applicants for funding for local road projects. State officials say the contracts will be determined this fall, with construction starting next spring. They say Wisconsin has already improved more than 17-hundred miles of roads across the state.
