Steven “Steve” Nero, age 64 of Tigerton went to his heavenly home on Friday, January 28, 2022, while a patient at Aspirus Wausau Hospital ICU for almost a month.
Steven John Nero was born on May 18, 1957, at Tigerton Hospital, the son of Ernest and Betty (Kersten) Nero. He was a 1975 graduate of Tigerton High School where he was active in baseball and football. On April 28, 1979, he was united in marriage to Kim M. Lehman at Peace Lutheran Church, Split Rock.
He was a kind and gentle man with an enormous amount of love for his family. At any event and family gathering you would see Steve with his camera taking photos, making memories for everyone. He could fix almost everything. Some say if he can’t fix it then just throw it away as no one will be able to fix it.
From his younger years to present day he always had an interest in automobiles, beginning his first 15 years of his career at Mayne Auto Sales, Marion. From there he became a machinist at Bantam Tool and then Walker Forge until his final employment at Jarp Industries.
He enjoyed the outdoors as much as he could and in his younger days was an avid hunter always looking forward to the gun deer season with family and friends at the Nero hunting camp.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kim; children, Jason (Melissa) of Madison and Erin (Christian) Zander of Tigerton; grandchildren, Zoey and Calvin Zander; two sisters, Diane (Darold) Koepke and Sharon (Jeffrey) Piastowski, both of Tigerton. There are seven in-laws, Donald (Donna) Lehman, Judy (Dennis) Felts, Dale (Linnea) Lehman, Patrick (Dawn) Lehman, Douglas (Tammy) Lehman, Kristie Yonker, and Terrie (Ryan) Tauferner. He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald L. (Mary) Lehman of Tigerton; a special aunt Bonnie Hidde of Clintonville, Uncle Herman (Joan) Kersten of Tigerton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his cat Max.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Betty Nero, and a niece, Desirae Lehman.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 5th at 11:00 AM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton. Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate and inurnment will be at a later date at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service, BOTH days at the funeral home.
