Lois A. Marquardt, age 89 of Marion passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at ThedaCare Medical Center – Shawano.
The former Lois Arlene Seefeldt was born on September 8, 1931, in Tigerton to Edgar and Nettie (Lundt) Seefeldt. She graduated from Tigerton High School in 1949. Lois was united in marriage on June 24, 1950, to Norman J. Marquardt at Peace Lutheran Church in Split Rock. In her early days, she was employed for several years at Hanson Glove Factory in Clintonville. The couple dairy farmed in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County. Lois worked hard on the farm alongside her husband for many years and then she continued helping her daughter with the farm for some time. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 2012.
Lois was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, where she was active in numerous projects with the Ladies Aide, and she always enjoyed singing at church. Lois sang for countless weddings and funerals over the years. She loved to brighten people’s day by simply singing happy birthday to them over the phone. Her other interests included polka dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time at the family cottage at Post Lake. Her favorite TV game show was Jeopardy which she rarely missed.
Lois passed on to relatives and friends the unconditional love from the Lord. She had an unfailing love for everyone whom she met and could accept people for who they are.
Survivors include five children: Edward, Alan, Steve (Nancy), Roger (Darlene), and Leanne (Jody) Marquardt. There are 11 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. There is one brother, David (Sharon) Seefeldt; a sister-in-law, Audrey (Burton) Blomgren; a brother-in-law, Morie Behnke; and a close friend, Mary Marquardt. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman; an infant sister; and one brother Eugene (Joan) Seefeldt. She is further preceded by three sisters-in-law, Goldie (August) Opperman-Moen, Ruby (Wallace) Kersten, and Eldora Behnke.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 12:00 Noon at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. Pastor Karen Riemer will officiate and burial will follow at St. John – Trinity Cemetery, Town of Dupont. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.
