LA CROSSE, WI- The Stingle triplets made some noise during their first trip to the WIAA State Track Meet on Thursday.
After missing their Freshman season due to the canceled COVID season, the three came in as rookies, but they quickly started to fit right in.
The Sophomore trio brought home a total of 5 medals, three of which were gold, and helped the Chiefs to a strong team finish.

Cade Stingle was the only competitor on the boys side and scored enough to give Shiocton a 10th place finish with a silver in both the 110 Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles.
“I am very happy where I placed, I was just hoping to get on podium this year,” Cade said.
The girls, Ari and Kendal were instrumental in helping Shiocton to a 4th Place team finish.
Ari and Kendal both ran in the State Championship 400 Relay and Kendal brought home Gold in the 300 Hurdles.
“I did not know if I would be out of energy, but I started fast on the backstretch and tried to get a good lead.”

That race ended up being a photo finish with Kylee Becker, a Senior from Ladysmith. As both crossed the finish line, Kendal had just enough to hold Becker off.
“The ending came to a literal dive.”
The time of 45.53 was a personal record for Kendal, and put her at the top of the podium. Earlier in the day, she took 4th in the 100 Hurdles.

Kendal said she was ready to race against her sister, but Ari started dealing with an injury after Sectionals and decided to scratch out of both hurdle events.
“I was doing my warmups and it was very painful so we decided not to.”
She said it allowed her to focus on just Pole Vault and the relay, all though she was excited to run against her sister in the hurdles.
“It was just the wrong timing,” Ari Stingle said. “We are very competitive so we try to push each other, but whoever wins we are happy.”

While the two have been competing against each other all year in the Hurdles, they have joined forces to make up half of a successful 400 relay team.
The team of the Stingle’s along with Karissa Birch and Brehanna Cohen finished first, set a personal record and a school record of 49.90.

“That was probably the best run that we had all year because all of our handoffs came through,” Kendal said. “We were really scared because we did not know if Ari was going to be able to go, but she did.”
“I was just doing mind over matter the whole time,” Ari said. “My muscles are very inflamed so it was painful.”

Kendal said they were ranked fourth coming in and said taking first was very surprising. “We looked at each other and said, we did not just take first did we?”

This is the third time that the girls have broken their own school record.

Ari was able to compete in her field event, the Pole Vault, and while she did not place, all was not lost.
“I did get my PR at 9-3 and I was hoping for 9-6 but with my injury, my steps were off so it stopped there.”

Cade Stingle had some tough competition in both hurdle events. Brennen Dvorachek of Reedsville won both events and it wasn’t the first time that Cade ran against him.
“During Sectionals I ran against him so I knew that I had to bring it at State.
Stingle did get by him in one race at Sectionals and said it is one of those matchups that is 50/50 every time.
“At State he topped me and I knew it was going to be a good race.”

Cade said he is happy that Dvorachek is a Junior, meaning the rivals may just meet again. Cade said he hopes it does happen.
“I am stoked to race him again. He pushes me so it is awesome,” Stingle said. “I now know that there is someone out there who is just as good as me, so I have to work harder.”
For the girls they said this experience makes them hungry for more. They want to return to State, return to the podium and set some more school records. Cade said he hopes his future includes a state record in the hurdle events.
