SHAWANO, WI- Shawano-Menominee County Heath Officer Vicki Dantoin has announced her resignation that will be effective at the end of next week.
Dantoin has been the lead in assisting and contact tracing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She only cited personal reasons for her decision and did not elaborate.
Shawano County Board Chairman Tom Kautza says the position is of high importance given how much it is directly involved with COVID-19 information and mitigation. Even though the job requires quite a bit of time and work the last six months, Kautza is not worried that is will make it difficult to find a quality replacement.
“It may help bring out some of the better candidates.”
He says they will be appointing an interim Health Officer soon and will look to fill the position quickly.
“It has to go through the Health Committee first, but it’s on the top of the list.”
The County is also in the process of replacing County Administrative Coordinator Brent Miller who announced his resignation earlier this month.
