Waupaca County Leads Wisconsin On Opening Day
Waupaca County had the largest number of registrations on the opening day of the nine-day gun deer hunting season, but numbers were down from last years totals. Various factors, including wind, the registration process and deer movement may have had an effect on the numbers. Wisconsin state totals for opening day were down by nearly 7,500 from last year.
Waupaca County led the way in buck registrations, antlerless registrations and total registrations with 2,750. Marathon County had 2,610 registrations and Shawano County was third with 2,319.
