Dustin Beyer has been hired as the new Varsity Baseball Head Coach at Shawano Community High School.
“I am very excited to be named the next Head Baseball Coach for Shawano High School” said Beyer of his hire. “Having played for Shawano and having been part of the baseball program here for many years, it is a very special opportunity for me. I look forward to building a great baseball program that will be competitive for many years to come.”
Beyer is a familiar face to baseball and high school athletics in the community. Since 2014, Beyer has been active in the Shawano Youth Baseball league, including serving as President of the organization from 2015 to 2018. He has also coached teams from a variety of age levels in the program. From 2005-2009, Beyer served as a varsity assistant coaching in the Shawano high school baseball program. He has also been a leader in the Shawano Lobos Baseball Club for the past 15 years, serving in several roles over that time, including head coach, team manager and board member. He has also served as a varsity assistant in the girls’ basketball program for the past two years.
“We are very pleased to have Coach Beyer as the new leader of our Hawks Baseball program” said Joel Wondra, Shawano High School Activities Director. “Dustin is a strong leader, he has a genuine passion for the game of baseball, for our community, and for young people, and he is able to effectively teach young players how to play the game successfully.”
Beyer has also been an active participant in the recently formed group that is working to bring about improvement in the culture of the athletic teams at Shawano High School. “Hiring a coach who understands the current challenges in our athletic program and who shares the vision for bringing about positive changes was one of the things we were looking for in our next coach” said Wondra. “We definitely found that in Dustin.”
Coach Beyer will begin immediately. “The first thing on my agenda for the baseball program is to assemble my coaching staff.” Beyer explained. “There are a lot of good baseball minds in Shawano and I look forward to putting together a great staff of coaches to help me lead the talented young men we have coming through our program.”
