Ismael Acevedo Sr., age 82, of Bear Creek passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah.
Ismael was born on October 5, 1936 in Puerto Rico Ranch, Hidalgo County, Texas, to Alfredo and Maria (Cardona) Acevedo. He was united in marriage on November 5, 1962 to Consuelo Teran at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Black Creek. After marriage, the couple settled in Bear Creek where they raised their five children. Ismael was employed as a painter at FWD Corporation in Clintonville for close to 20 years. He was a real handyman and was always working on a project around the house. Ismael enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his time working in the yard planting trees or helping out others whenever possible. He was a gifted musician and played the 12 string bajo guitar and the 3 row button accordion. Ismael liked playing traditional Tejano music at home, and with his brother and nephews at family gatherings. He was an out-going person that always had a story to tell. His sense of humor and views on life touched many. Ismael will be remembered most as a devoted husband, a loving father, and proud grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Consuelo; and five children, Aida (Pablo) Acevedo-Mota of Appleton, Annabelia (Fernando) Mendoza of Shiocton, Anna Maria (Keith) Sommers of North Augusta, SC, Ismael (Gay) Acevedo Jr. of Clintonville, and Jose “Freddy” Sanchez of Madison. There are 8 grandchildren: Victoria, Jose, Joanna (Jose), Josua, Julian, Logan, Alexis, and Emilee. He is further survived by 5 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Ismael was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Irma Ozuna; and three brothers, Reynaldo, Alfredo Jr., and Israel “Joe” Acevedo Sr.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 11:00 AM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
