Kenneth L. Thompson, age 90 of the Town of Belle Plaine, died on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Born on April 26, 1927, in Navarino, he is the son of the late Stuart and Olga (Knoff) Thompson. Kenneth was drafted and served his country as a decorated United States Marine during the Korean Conflict. On May 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Norma Degener. Kenneth enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and deer hunting; in his younger years, he also enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma; his son, Dennis (Pam) Thompson of Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Rachel (Timothy) Riener and Kelsey Thompson both of Milwaukee; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Kenneth is preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne; his parents; his siblings, Cora Reeck, Stanley Thompson, Arbutus Seelig, Dorothy Pues and Merle Blink.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine with Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of services. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
