Gordon Louis “Sonny” Waupoose, Jr., age 62, of Keshena, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on April 16, 1955 in Keshena, he is the son of Constance (Grignon) Waupoose and the late Gordon Waupoose, Sr. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1973. On June 26, 1976, Sonny was united in marriage to Ruth House at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. He worked as a Master Electrician for 40 years and was a member of the IBEW Local 158 in Green Bay. Sonny enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and was devoted to traditional Menominee ways.
Sonny is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Ruth; four children, Alecia (Ethan Webster, Sr.) Waupoose of Keshena, Lauren (Lee) Stoehr of Keshena, Michael D. (Sheena) Waupoose of Keshena and Romaine Waupoose of Keshena; seven grandchildren, Ethan Jr., Eric, Piper, Kesekaesek, Kateri, Hayden and Cameron. He is further survived by five siblings, Mary Beth Pecore, David (Jill) Waupoose, Sr., Marlin (Jerilyn) Waupoose, Sr., Carmella (Herman Peters) Waupoose and Annmarie (Kenneth) Johnson, III; brothers–in-law, Preston (Donna) House, Weston House, Jr. and Michael House, Sr.; special sister-in-law, Dawn (Lamar) Blackbull; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Lily; his father; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Weston “Buddy” and Mildred (Kinney) House, Sr.; brother-in-law, Wayne Pecore, Jr.; nephew, Marlin Waupoose, Jr.; niece, Tricia Pecore; and a great-niece, Starfire Waupoose.
Funeral services for Gordon will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Neopit with Father Francis Zurbano officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
