Sergeant Christopher Hammen of the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department was recently announced as Death Investigator of the Year by the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators.
Hammen, 51, has served in law enforcement for Outagamie County since May of 1991, having been in the investigative division since 1999.
Upon receiving the award, Sergeant Hammen will be honored on April 20 at the American Club in Kohler, WI during the association’s annual training seminar dinner.
Sergeant Hammen was awarded for his work investigating the deaths of Lorraine Brown Bear and Harry Brown Bear, which occurred on Sept. 14, 2016. For 31 straight days, Sergeant Hammen worked the case conducting countless interviews, gathering physical evidence, and developing suspects.
On Oct. 14, Sergeant Hammen arrested Vance D. Reed on two counts of first degree intentional homicide. Reed has a jury trial scheduled for May of 2017
