Crash Kills Marion Couple

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department responded to a double fatality in the Town of Grant on Monday Afternoon. The call came in around 4:00pm for a accident that involved a vehicle and a log truck on County G and Leopolis Road intersection. According to the investigation, a log truck struck a vehicle driven by 77 year old Ireneo Gonzalez of Marion at the intersection. Both Gonzalez and his passenger 76 year old Soila Gonzalez passed away from the injuries. The log truck was was operated by 57 year old Andrew Welch of Bowler, who was uninjured in the crash. No details on the cause of the crash have been released yet.
