Carol Jean Opperman, age 81, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2016 at Atrium Acute Post Care Maple Lane in Shawano.
Carol was born in the Town of Herman on July 19, 1935, the daughter of the late Herman and Luella (Griesbach) Beyer. On November 28, 1953 she was united in marriage to Melvin C. “Breezy” Opperman at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2016.
Carol was a good and faithful member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond. She was employed at Birch Hill Care Center for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, antiquing, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends.
Carol is survived by her children, Deb (Bill) Laehn, Randy (Chris) Opperman, Dennis (fiancé Laurie Eckert) Opperman, Jeff (special friend, Kim Berg) Opperman, and Rick (Lori) Opperman; her grandchildren, B.J. (Nathan) Johnson, Justin Opperman, Brittney Opperman, Andy (Nikki) Opperman, Ashley Sireno, Jason Opperman, Natasha (Wayne) Anderson, and Ethan Opperman; great-grandchildren, Ella Johnson, Rylan and Cohen Opperman, Bella and Olivia Sireno, Ryan Anderson, Kendra and Karter Westphal, and Gavin Opperman; step-grandchildren, Kenny (Jessica) Stepp, Jesse (Lissy) Peebles, Jason (Brenda) Peebles, Jamie (Scott) Liesner, and Jeana (Dalton) Henn; step-great-grandchildren, Cayden Stepp, Jory, Jarett, Brayson, Brenton, Christian and Danielle Pebbles, and Kolby Liesner. She is further survived by her siblings, Ken (Geri) Beyer, Donna (Ken) Van Lanen, and Mary Beyer; and her sister-in-law, Donna Beyer. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Opperman; her brothers, Walter, Herbert, and Robert Beyer; two infant brothers, Orville and Roger Beyer; her sister-in-law, Bessie Beyer; and a step-great-grandchild, Lucas Stepp.
Funeral services for Carol J. Opperman will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, Town of Richmond. Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Jakobi Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Richmond. Relatives and friends may call at Mickelson Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials be made to the St. Jacobi Church Building Fund.
