NEW LONDON, WI- The City of New London Water Department will continue its scheduled water main flushing this Thursday, April 24, 2025, affecting customers in the Northeast New London Business Center and County S from Highway 54 to Mosquito Hill. The impacted area is marked in fuchsia on the department’s flushing zone map.
Crews will be working between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. as part of a multi-day flushing operation that began Monday and wraps up Thursday. The flushing process is an important part of system maintenance and helps remove natural mineral buildup—particularly iron—that can cause water discoloration. While the minerals are harmless, they may temporarily affect the appearance of your water.
What residents should do:
- If you see city crews flushing in your neighborhood, try to avoid using water for 1 to 2 hours. This will help prevent pulling discolored water into your home plumbing.
- If discoloration occurs, stop water usage, wait 1 to 2 hours, then run the cold water tap only to flush the discolored water from your system.
The Water Department notes that residents near zone borders may be affected on more than one day. They urge all customers to follow the precautions to ensure water clarity and system performance.
For questions or concerns, residents are encouraged to call the Water Department directly at (920) 982-8516.
