It was a busy Monday for the Shawano Police Department, responding to a variety of incidents across the city.
Early in the morning near the high school at Main Street and County Road B, officers responded to an animal complaint—a deer in distress had to be dispatched. Multiple residents called in about the situation.
Later, officers handled a harassment complaint on South Main Street involving tensions between neighbors over a new dog. The situation involved a boyfriend and girlfriend at a nearby address who reportedly refused to engage with the complainant.
Meanwhile, an honest citizen turned in $20 found at the curb near Highway 22 and South Main Street.
In a more concerning report, a man was seen behaving erratically near E. Center and S. Union Streets. Described as “tweaking,” he was wearing a red cap and pulling a red wagon. Officers arrived shortly after and escorted him away from the area.
Fire and medical services were also kept on their toes. A fire alarm was triggered at Evergreen Health Care on South Evergreen Street. Smoke was reported, but no specific location was given. Fire and police units responded swiftly, and the incident was brought under control.
One of the day’s more alarming reports came from South River Street where a loud domestic disturbance prompted multiple units to respond. Shouting was heard, and names were exchanged over the radio. The investigation is ongoing.
In total, the department handled calls ranging from juvenile issues, welfare checks, and a hit-and-run on Green Bay Street, to suspicious noises on River and Weed Streets reported as a “giant blast.”
Clintonville Police reported Officers conducted multiple business checks overnight along South Main Street and Industrial Avenue, ensuring local properties were secure. The early hours also brought a pair of welfare checks—one on South Main, the other later on Wilson Street—alongside a family-related call.
Shortly before 6 a.m., police assisted with a disabled vehicle at Waupaca and West Street. Suspicious activity was reported throughout the morning, with incidents on 15th, 19th, and Ginger Court.
In the day’s most serious call, police responded to a reported death on West Green Tree Road just after 8:30 a.m. Details on that case have not been released.
Other reports included harassment on Morning Glory Drive, a theft on Wilson Street, and several traffic stops—one resulting in an OWI arrest on Madison Street around 9:15 p.m.
For Shawano County Sheriff’s Department The day started early with deputies picking up a wanted individual in Brown County just after 4:30 a.m. Back in Shawano County, law enforcement responded to multiple vehicle-related hazards throughout the day—one of the first being a reckless driving complaint at County Roads MM and MMM, involving a Shawano resident. Later that morning, a semi with smoke coming from its trailer and a loose shovel in a fast lane on Highway 29 caused major concern for passing motorists.
Deputies were kept busy handling three disabled vehicles before noon—one near County Road J, another near mile marker 195, and a third in Cecil—all safely removed without injuries.
A midday fraud report came in from a woman in Bowler who discovered someone had taken out a loan in her name. The $189 fraud was traced back to late March.
Later in the day, authorities investigated damage to a mailbox in Wittenberg, allegedly smashed with a baseball bat. That was followed by a separate vandalism report from a local park, where a public sculpture had been knocked over.
Meanwhile, fire crews were assisted near Bowler after a brush pile reignited under windy conditions. Fortunately, no structures were damaged.
Evening activity saw a man voluntarily turn himself in at the Shawano County Jail on a warrant, while another caller reported someone lying in a ditch. Deputies made contact with the individual who appeared unharmed.
At the Ho-Chunk Casino in Wittenberg, an attempt-to-locate alert was issued after a white Ford pickup was spotted leaving the premises, possibly operated by a drunk driver.
And in a separate jurisdiction, Stockbridge-Munsee Police investigated a threatening complaint involving a man who had previously assaulted a woman. That suspect, reportedly driving a green Chevy Z71, was last seen near Highway 22.
