It was a hectic Sunday in Shawano, with officers responding to over a dozen incidents ranging from animal complaints to welfare checks.
Early Sunday morning, officers were called to W. Swan Street for reports of incessant barking dogs. Officers investigated but didn’t hear anything on arrival and stayed in the area briefly.
Shortly after, a group of loud teens with music drew attention near E. Elizabeth and Olson Street. Officers confirmed the disturbance but cleared the scene quickly.
In a more serious moment, a welfare check on S. Bartlett Street revealed a toddler holding a vape, Officers worked to locate a guardian and ensure the child’s safety. Later that day, another 2-year-old was found wandering alone in a burnt orange shirt on S. Andrews Street. That child was also safely secured.
Around 5 p.m., a disturbing discovery was made on the city’s east side—a deceased dog dumped in a box, wrapped in a teal towel. Police are investigating who may have abandoned the animal.
Meanwhile, at Walgreens on E. Green Bay Street, police were called for a shoplifting report involving alcohol, and later assisted with a domestic disturbance just blocks away on S. Bartlett Street.
Rounding out the night, officers responded to a vehicle dangerously stacked with foam pads at a Kwik Trip, sparking safety concerns.
Clintonville Police were busy on April 13th, responding to a variety of calls throughout the city. Officers conducted multiple business checks overnight, with stops on East 3rd, 4th, Bennett, and South Main Streets, ensuring local establishments were secure.
A juvenile-related issue was reported early on South Main Street, while later in the day, a domestic disturbance brought officers to Flora Way. Emergency services also responded to two ambulance calls—one on West Morning Glory Drive in the early hours, and another on North Clinton Avenue just before 6 p.m.
The department continued routine extra patrols in neighborhoods like Anne Street, Olen Park Road, and East Morning Glory Drive, and addressed a parking issue on North 12th Street.
Later in the day, officers responded to an alarm on Summer Street, two traffic stops—including one at Highway 156 and McKinley Avenue—and a reported theft on East 14th Street. There were also calls for trespassing in Floral Acres and a lost and found situation at North Main and East 12th.

A high-speed incident kicked off the evening, when a white female was stopped going 85 in a 55 mph zone near Highway 47 and Camp 1 Road. The Stockbridge-Munsee Police handled the case, and the situation was resolved without escalation.
Later, deputies apprehended a woman, who turned herself in on outstanding warrants at the Mattoon Market.
Meanwhile, officers were involved in a pursuit on Highway 47 near Strauss Court, where a vehicle reportedly hit 90 miles per hour before fleeing into the Menominee Reservation area.
The day also saw multiple vehicle-related issues. A woman reportedly backed into a pole near Exit 242 but delayed reporting the incident. Another driver hit a deer on Highway 47, and an Amazon delivery truck was involved in a minor crash in a back alley with a Chevy Equinox.
A drug-related arrest was made in Birnamwood. Details remain limited.
In a concerning note, a jail inmate reported she had been sexually assaulted before arriving at the Shawano County Jail. Authorities are investigating the allegation and seeking further details.
Throughout the day, deputies handled over 20 incidents ranging from welfare checks and suspicious activity to 911 misdials—one of which was accidentally triggered by a child playing with a phone.
