Audio PlayerThe Seymour Thunder are entering the 2025 softball season with a veteran-laden roster and a renewed sense of purpose. Head Coach Karri Vandenlangenberg’s squad features 10 seniors, making leadership and experience a clear strength heading into the spring.
“We’re a heavy senior group this year,” Vandenlangenberg said. “That leadership has really guided the rest of the team, and we’re super excited for them to carry us through.”
Seven starters return from last season’s lineup, including standout pitcher Gillian Herrala, who earned First Team All-Conference honors after carrying much of the pitching load last year. This spring, Harala will get some much-needed support from freshman Kendra Rettler and left-hander Jasmine Lee, giving Seymour a more balanced and flexible pitching staff.
Behind the plate, Addison Wery returns to help anchor the defense and manage the staff, bringing stability to a team that’s already strong up the middle.
Coach Vandenlangenberg credits the team’s senior core for creating a supportive environment that’s helping younger players grow and gain confidence.
“The young ones that are coming up are slowly getting used to life on the varsity team,” she said. “They’re meshing well and breaking out of their shells. It’s been fun to watch.”
With experience, depth in the circle, and a strong team culture, Seymour is poised to be a contender in the Bay Conference and beyond. Keep an eye on the Thunder this season — this senior-led group is ready to make some noise.
