It was a busy Monday across Shawano County, with local law enforcement responding to a
wide range of calls — some unusual, others all too familiar.
The day started early, just before 4 a.m., when Shawano Police helped a woman trying to
reach her mother in Tigerton. Concerns were raised about the mother’s welfare, but no
further details were released.
Then, around 6:20 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from Industrial Drive. The call came
through a location service called RapidSOS, but the exact emergency is still unknown.
Later in the morning, a resident reported a nuisance trailer full of trash sitting in the terrace
area on South Smalley Street — and it had been there for two weeks. Police are now deciding
the next steps.
At 2:18 p.m., officers were called to a pair of shoplifting incidents on South Main Street.
Surveillance footage from a previous theft was turned over to police. Officers Jeff Buettner
and AJ Hale are handling the case.
A short time later, officers helped a woman who needed assistance standing on Mountain Bay
Trail Drive. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
At 5:06 p.m., a faulty traffic light at East Green Bay and Eberlein Park Drive caused a minor
hazard when it failed to change colors. Public works was notified.
Then just before 9 p.m., three officers responded to Memorial Park for a possible theft in
progress. Location data from two emergency systems was collected — and the investigation
is ongoing.
And around midnight, police and EMS responded to a medical emergency on Estates Lane. No
word yet on the patient’s condition.
In addition to those calls, police handled traffic stops, business checks, and a heated laundry
room argument between neighbors.
Meanwhile, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office logged 23 cases over 24 hours — ranging
from traffic accidents and animal complaints to harassment and welfare checks.
One of the more active locations was 208 South Ellms Street in Wittenberg, where a man
named Lekeanua Scott was involved in both a harassment complaint and an animal issue
involving a loose collie.
There were also reports of reckless driving, stray goats and dogs, and even a herd of loose
horses in Cecil that deputies managed to safely guide away from traffic.
Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Police assisted with several calls of their own — including support
on a personal injury crash in Bowler.
