
Gertrud Wendorff, age 85, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, at The Cottages Memory Care Unit where she had been a resident for the past several years. Gertrud was born March 2, 1940, in Schwalbach Germany, a daughter of the late Franz and Marie (Schmidt) Deisenrieder. She grew up in Germany and moved to the United States at the age of 18. Gertrud originally settled in South Dakota and later moved to New York for a short time before moving to her forever home in Shawano. She was united in marriage to Franklin Wendorff on May 12, 1962, in Berlin, WI. Gertrud spent her entire working life as a lunch lady for the Shawano
School District, retiring in 2001. Franklin preceded her in death on April 7, 2010.
Gertrud is a former member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church and is a current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill. Gertrud enjoyed knitting, playing bingo, and cooking.
Survivors include her three sons, Randall Linde of Green Bay, Joseph (Annette) Wendorff of Jacksonville, Florida, and Michael (Diane) Wendorff of Shawano; and her grandchildren, Jesse, Cody, Tom, Tanji, and Tyler. Gertrud is further survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred, who died in Germany. A memorial service for Gertrud will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Mickelson Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawano. Pastor Steve Conradt will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Stony Hill. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 am and continue until the time of service.
