NEW LONDON, WI – After more than 15 years at the helm of the New London Police Department, Chief Jeffrey Schlueter has announced his retirement from law enforcement. His decision marks the end of a distinguished career dedicated to serving and protecting the community.
In a statement, Chief Schlueter expressed deep gratitude to the citizens of New London, as well as to city officials, fellow law enforcement agencies, and his team at the police department.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Citizens, the New London Police and Fire Commission, the City Council, the Mayors of New London, my colleagues at City Hall, other area law enforcement agencies, and the officers and dispatchers of the New London Police Department for your unwavering support throughout the years,” Schlueter said.
Reflecting on his time in leadership, he expressed pride in the foundation laid for law enforcement in the city. “It has truly been an honor to serve this community, and I believe we have laid a strong foundation for law enforcement in New London. The NLPD is filled with exceptional talent, and I have full confidence that they will continue to serve with excellence in the future.”
Chief Schlueter’s final day in office will be March 14. Captain Josh Wilson has been appointed as Interim Chief while the city searches for a permanent replacement.
As New London prepares for this transition, community members and colleagues have already begun expressing their appreciation for Chief Schlueter’s years of dedication and leadership.
