Carlton E. Koeller, age 95 of the Town of Wescott, Shawano County, formerly of Long Lake in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County passed away Friday morning February 21, 2025 at Shawano Place Assisted Living.
Carlton Emil Koeller (fondly known as “Tuffy” to some) was born on December 3, 1929 in the Town of Pella as the son of the late Arnold and Martha (Schwenke) Koeller. Carlton graduated from Clintonville High School in 1948. After several years working on the family farm and neighboring farms he enlisted to serve his country in the United States Coast Guard in 1955. While stationed in Cheboygan, MI he met Joyce Elya. After completing his military service in Sheboygan, WI, he returned to Cheboygan to ask for her hand in marriage. The couple were wed on December 3, 1960 in Sheboygan, WI. They resided and started their family there. They later moved to Clintonville prior to settling on Long Lake in the Town of Belle Plaine, where they lived for over 50 years. Carlton and Joyce then moved to Shawano for the past few years to be closer to family. Carlton proudly worked for many years as a machinist at Seagrave FWD in Clintonville until his retirement. Following his retirement he enjoyed driving school bus for several area schools. He was a current member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, but had been a long-time faithful member and devoted servant at Zion Lutheran Church in Embarrass. He served on the Board of Elders, ushered, and was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. In his free time Carlton enjoyed fishing, bowling and more recently “painting” with markers, bingo and playing checkers. He will be remembered lovingly by his family for his faith, silliness and ability to bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
