Mountain, WI — A 55-year-old man from Mequon, Wisconsin, tragically lost his life in a snowmobile accident on Friday, February 14, 2025, in the Town of Mountain, Oconto County.

At approximately 5:07 PM, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a single-vehicle snowmobile crash near Bonita Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that the operator was traveling south on County Highway W when he lost control after striking a signpost with one of the snowmobile’s skis. The impact caused the rider to be ejected, resulting in fatal injuries.

The Department of Natural Resources is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident, with assistance from the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office. No further details have been released at this time.
