
James D. Cotter, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on February 12, 2025. Jim was born December 13, 1945, in the Town of Wescott, a son of the late Louis and Marvel (Konoble) Cotter. He attended Shawano High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. Following high school, Jim joined the United States Army where he honorably served for two years. He did construction work, building and repairing sea walls. On July 17, 1971, he was united in marriage to the former Gloria Jandt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Washington. Jim enjoyed playing darts, cards, bowling, and shooting pool. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gloria; three children, Corey Cotter, Bobbi Cotter Martz, and Adam (Sherry Baldwin) Cotter; grandchildren, Tyler (Kristalle) Cotter, Skylar (Hunter) Cotter, Serenity Schultz, Duane Schultz Jr., and Lahkota Martz; great-grandkids, Aubree, Arlexia, Kyrie, Kaylee, Aiyanna, Carter, Ezra, Faith, Kingston, James and Victoria; his brother, Mike (Karen) Cotter; sisters-in-law, Donna Cotter, Cheryle Cheslock, Lois (Jim) Flaig, and Gayle (Terry Tonn) Springborn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Clarence and Doris Jandt; brothers, Russel, Chip, and Louis Jr; sisters, Claira and Helen (Earl); nephew, Brian; niece, Jackie; grandson, Ryder; and sisterin-law, Dawn Schutt.
A celebration of life for James D. Cotter is pending and will be announced at a later date.
