SHAWANO, WI—On Monday, February 17, 2025, the Shawano School District implemented a two-hour delay due to an internet outage. Superintendent Kurt Krizan explained that the decision was made because the district’s student information system, which contains essential data such as health records and contact information, relies on internet access. Without it, the district would lack access to critical information necessary for daily operations.
While classroom teaching can proceed without internet access, Superintendent Krizan emphasized that the internet is vital for key safety functions within the district. He stated, “We would not have access to our student information system. That has everything for student health records or contact information.”
Staff members reported on time, and the delay allowed the district to address the technical issues affecting their systems.
