
Joyce J. DeBauch, age 89 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at The Cottages Memory Care in Shawano. Joyce was born on October 20, 1935, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Frank and Susan (Ainsworth) Opperman. Joyce attended the Shawano schools and graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1953. Following high school, she worked as a switchboard operator at the phone company in Shawano. She later moved to Colorado. On October 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Vincent DeBauch, at Fort Carson in Colorado. Soon after their marriage the couple moved back to Wisconsin where they raised their children. Joyce worked at Mirro Aluminum and Saranac Glove Company. Joyce and Vincent enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada, camping, and gardening. Together they had the opportunity to visit all fifty states. Joyce loved baking for her family. Throughout the years she was a very active volunteer in her community. Vincent preceded her in death on January 25, 2022.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Judy DeBauch of Green Bay, Carolyn (Kirk) Fishbaugh of Hobart, Brenda (Dennis) Wiskow of the Township of Underhill; two sons, Gary DeBauch and Steve (Joanne) DeBauch, both of Gillett; grandchildren, Tanya, Jason, Ben, Amanda, Brooke, Aaron, Shiloh, and Kody; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Lamberies and Phyllis Lamberies both of Shawano; and her best friend since childhood, Gwen Zippel. Joyce was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alexis Blaser; three sisters, Cecile Engel, Lorraine Turman, and Mavis Rocklewitz; and two brothers, Melvin and Wilber Opperman.
A memorial service for Joyce DeBauch will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:00 am at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Father Edward Looney will officiate. Visitation will begin on Monday at 10:00 am and continue until the time of service. Interment will take place at Wanderers Rest Cemetery – Gillett in the spring.
