GREEN BAY, WI- Desmond L. Waukau, Jr., 21, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for involuntary manslaughter and fleeing an officer resulting in the death of 19-year-old passenger Emily J. Peters on May 19, 2024. The crash occurred on the Menominee Indian Reservation after Waukau, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, attempted to evade police in a high-speed pursuit. Peters, also a member of the Menominee Tribe, was killed when Waukau lost control of the vehicle. If convicted, Waukau faces up to 25 years in prison. The FBI and Menominee Tribal Police conducted the investigation.
Jerome D. Crowe, 37, of Shawano, was federally indicted on December 17, 2024, for cocaine possession with intent to distribute on the Menominee Indian Reservation. The incident occurred on November 19, 2024. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. The FBI Safe Trails Task Force led the investigation.
