Residents across Shawano County and the state are reminded to file nomination papers for local offices ahead of the April 1, 2025, election. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 7.
Local Races on the Ballot
In Shawano County towns, elections will be held for chairpersons, supervisors, clerks, and treasurers. Villages, will vote on presidents, trustees, and clerk-treasurer positions.
In the city of Shawano, voters will elect alderpersons for three districts. Incumbents Brad Keuschel (District 1) and Kevin Barkow (District 3) are expected to run, while Sandy Steinke (District 5) has announced she will not seek re-election.
School board positions across several districts—including Antigo, Bonduel, Bowler, Clintonville, Gillett, Gresham, Marion, Menominee Indian, Pulaski, Seymour, Shawano, Tigerton, and Wittenberg-Birnamwood—are also on the ballot. Depending on the district, these positions may represent geographic areas or be at-large seats.
Sanitary districts, such as Cloverleaf Lakes, Richmond, and Shawano Lake, are also seeking candidates for commissioner roles.
Statewide and Regional Contests
Statewide, voters will decide on the state superintendent of public instruction, a position currently held by Jill Underly, and a justice for the Wisconsin Supreme Court, currently held by Ann Walsh Bradley.
Additionally, an appellate judgeship for the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, currently held by Lisa Stark, will be up for election.
Key Dates
Candidates must file their paperwork with their respective municipal or school district clerks by Jan. 7. If a primary election is required, it will take place on Feb. 18.
