Ricky Ray “Kizer” Retzlaff, age 73, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at his home. Kizer was born to the late Edgar and Lorraine (Rambo) Retzlaff, Sr., on December 14, 1950, in Shawano. On February 7, 1981, he was united in marriage to Mary Hardy at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cecil. Kizer was a baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church and continued to be a member. He attended St. James School and Shawano High School. He enjoyed sports at school which included wrestling and track. Kizer loved fishing, hunting and crafting. Most of all he loved playing cards with family and friends, most notably Sheepshead. Kizer often enjoyed watching people go by while sitting on his front porch. He worked at the L&L Restaurant as a cook, Aarrowcast as a machinist and Retail Lumber as a delivery driver. Kizer was a very loving and kind person always ready to lend a helping hand to others. He loved nature and animals, especially his cat, Garfield.
Kizer is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Jenny Buth; grandchildren, Kimberly (Skylar) Buth, Mickanzy (Ryan) VanNewkirk, Danyell Brooks and Nevaeh Krepline; great-granddaughter, Riki VanNewkirk. Kizer is further survived by his three brothers, Edgar (Violet) Retzlaff, Jr., and Richard Retzlaff and Paul (Michalina) Kreischer; three sisters Linda (Bruce) Boerst, Brenda (Alan) Thomas and Ann (Tony) Goerl; three sisters-in-law, Cheryl Hardy, Sharon Kerr and Jeanne Lieglar; three brothers-in-law, Dennis (Jaynne) Hardy, Danny (Sue) Hardy and Andrew Hardy; godchildren, Tim Retzlaff and Aaron Boerst; and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Kizer is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Retzlaff, Sr.; mother, Lorraine Retzlaff, Kreischer (Paul, Sr.); first wife, Lucy Moon; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Private services were held.
