Alfonso L. Zaddack, age 84, of Shawano, passed away on September 26, 2024, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Alfonso was born June 3, 1940, in Shawano, the son of the late Alfred and Alice (Buettner) Zaddack. He attended Gresham High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. Following high school, Alfonso farmed the family homestead with his father, Alfred. On August 4, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Jean Johnson at St. James Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Gresham. In 1980, the couple relocated to the original Zaddack Farm in the Town of Richmond, where they have resided since. The beloved family farm has been recognized as a Century Farm, where he raised Black Angus cows for many years. Alfonso was employed at Seagrave in Clintonville. He started his employment in 1965 and retired in 2006 after 41 years. Prior to and following his retirement, Alfonso drove school bus, driving both daily routes, special events, and sporting events. He was a good and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham for many years. He served as an Elder and flipped many potato pancakes. His hobbies included deer hunting, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and rebuilding old tractors (mostly John Deere). He was a past member of the Two Cylinder Club and Gresham FFA Alumni. Alfonso and his wife, Jean, are current members of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Stony Hill.
Alfonso is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean of Town of Richmond; five children, Todd (Dianne Lohman) Zaddack of Shawano, Suzanne (Karl) Beilfuss of Wausau, Gary (Susan) Zaddack of Marion, Christopher (Wendi) Zaddack of Shawano, and Janet (Gary) Heinz of Shawano; 14 grandchildren, Thomas Zaddack, Steven Zaddack, Ashley (Mike) Steinke, Megan (Beau Jacques) Krueger, Anna Rose (Joe) Nelson, Ethan John Beilfus, Lee (Ashley) Zaddack, Cory (Amber) Zaddack, Samantha Joy (Brian Courtade) Zaddack, Steven (Libby) Smith, Jason Smith, Dartania (Bronson) Huntington, Samantha (Josh Vomastic) Heinz, and Jason (Hannah Hein) Heinz; 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Richard (Kathy) Zaddack of New London, Rozanne Riley of Arkansas, Francine (James) Brown of Black Creek, Anne (Tim) Rogers of Gresham, and Steven Zaddack of Gresham. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Alfonso was preceded in death by his grandson, baby Zaddack; two nieces, Tina (Rogers) Asenbrenner, and Holly (Rogers) Kallies; and brother-in-law, Rodney Riley.
A funeral service for Alfonso Zaddack will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Stony Hill. Pastor Steve Conradt will officiate. Interment will be in Zion Rest Cemetery in Gresham. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 am and continue until the time of service.
