Roberta “Bobbi” Cecelia Stickney, of Clintonville, passed away at Shawano Health Services on September 23, 2024 after battling cancer. She was 79 years young.
Bobbi was born August 12, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to Elmer and Genevieve (Kressin) Roth. She attended and graduated from Kelvyn Park High School with a strong interest in journalism. Bobbi continued her education going into nursing school at Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, an affiliate of Northwestern University. Shortly after graduation from nursing school, she entered the Army becoming one of the 10,000 women who served in the Vietnam War. Bobbi was a 1st Lieutenant and served from 1966-1969. While in Vietnam, she was stationed at the 29th Evac Hospital in Can Tho.
Bobbi had many loves and hobbies, which included cross stitch, crocheting, scrap booking, looking through cookbooks and collecting recipes. Fall was her favorite season and took joy in decorating for that time of the year. She also loved watching her many sports and remained loyal to her Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls.
During her life, Bobbi served as the Queen of Job’s Daughters, a Cub Scout master and served on the Bay Lakes Council, was a Sunday school teacher at Christus Lutheran Church, active in the PTA, worked at North Washington Hospital in Virginia and at Clintonville Memorial hospital in Clintonville, Wisconsin. After her years working in hospitals, Bobbi continued her RN career working at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville and later retired from Pine Manor Nursing home in Shawano, Wisconsin. In retirement she enjoyed her time going to and working at flea markets, meeting and sharing stories with people from all different walks of life.
In December of 1969 Bobbi was married to Lawrence Stickney from Clintonville, Wisconsin. They have been married for 54 years.
Bobbi is survived by her husband, Larry. Her children; Chris Stickney, Samantha (Stickney) and Paul Van Dyke (Jacob and Landon), Benjamine and Jeneen Stickney (Nola McDonald, Maiya, and Keegan). Her brother Calvin Roth. Her nephew Jason and Angelique Roth (Iris and Kai) and her niece, Ronica Roth. And her beloved cat, Destiny.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 – 6 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Eberhardt & Stevenson Funeral Home South Location; 299 S. Main St. Clintonville, WI. The inurnment and military honors will take place at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin, at a later date.
