SHAWANO, WI- The Grand Opening of the new Shawano Municipal Utlities Building was made official on Friday with a ribbon cutting and confetti to celebrate.
Before the cutting, General Manager Bruce Gomm spoke about the process.
“It’s been a lengthy process to get to where we are,” Gomm said. “It turned out pretty well and we are pretty proud of it.”
Miron Construction helped in the building process and crews involved in the project said it was long over due as the process has been under way for about five years, but the wait should result in 50 plus years of a good building.
The idea was brought up in 2019 and put on the shelf until 2021. In 2022, design firms were brought in and it was decided that a new building was needed improve usage and security.
“The city and SMU have enjoyed a partnership for many years, and this is a great addition for the city.
