Robert James Lorge was born on May 26, 1948 in New London as the son of the late Thomas and Ruth (Pelky) Lorge. He graduated from Bear Creek High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Joeline Jarvais on the Navy base in Coronado, CA on September 5, 1970. After his discharge from the Navy, the couple moved back to the Bear Creek area where they were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Robert was active as a Lecter, Eucharist Minister, confirmation, and an REP Teacher. Robert worked for many years at Hillshire Farms in New London and finished his career working for the USDA as a Federal Meat Inspector; retiring in 2011. He was also giving of his time as a volunteer Boy Scout Leader and served Bear Creek on the fire department and town board. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting.
Survivors include: His wife of 53 years: Joeline Lorge.
Children: Matthew (Kristi) Lorge, Bobbi (Dave) Pedersen, & Cindy (Jeff Frey) Kummrow.
Grandchildren: Jordan Eustice, Tristan, Amber, Shelbi, Bella Pedersen, Jaxon Lorge, and Haley and Samantha Kummrow.
Siblings: Pat (Mike) Wilson, Mary Gregory, Tom (Linda) Lorge, Elizabeth (Dan) Cornelious, and Jane Hensler.
Also numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Ruth, brother Gerald, brother-in-laws Don Gregory, Helmut Hensler, Raymond Peeters, and Bernard Peeters, nieces Bernadette & RayLee Peeters, nephews Michael & Thomas Wilson, and a great-nephew Ray Plageman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Robert on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek with Fr. Simon Muriithi Minyati officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30am until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in the parish cemetery with military honors. The service will be recorded and can be viewed on the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Homes Facebook page. In lieu of flowers Robert’s request was that you spend the money with your loved ones in the outdoors.
