BARABOO, WI- On Wednesday, Ann Retzlaff, the former owner of Annie’s Campground, concluded her legal battles by receiving a $500 fine in a Sauk County case.
The legal troubles for Retzlaff originated in Shawano County following a May 2021 traffic stop, leading to subsequent charges for bail jumping due to missed court dates and bond violations. Last month, she reached a plea agreement in connection with these cases, resulting in a $2,950 fine.
As a consequence of the legal proceedings, Annie’s Campground in Gresham, owned by Retzlaff, faced foreclosure by the bank. The property was eventually auctioned to settle mortgage and tax debts.
Following the foreclosure, Retzlaff found herself facing charges in Sauk County for allegedly filing illegal personal liens against individuals professionally involved in the foreclosure action. The charge, known as ‘criminal slander of title’ under state law, pertains to submitting false or frivolous instruments related to a security interest in or title to real or personal property.
