Mark F. Born, age 71 of the Township of Pella Shawano County, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, as a result of injuries sustained in a fall.
Mark Fredrick Born was born on June 19, 1952 in Clintonville, WI, son to Janet M. (Hauser) and the late Carl F. Born. He attended Shawano schools where he was an athlete competing in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduating with the class of 1970, Mark continued to play Legion baseball and softball with the Library Bar from many years; he was also included in the Legion Hall of Fame. He was united in marriage to his wife Lynn (nee. Thorson) on July 26, 1996 in Shawano. He had worked on his grandfather’s farm in the Township of Pella since he was a boy, and while he hadn’t been full-time on the farm since 1998, still helped out when needed. Mark also drove heavy haul trucks for Badger Transport for many years, and drove for Genex Cooperative, Shawano. He loved to attend the Hodag Country Music Festival every year with Lynn. Spending time in the outdoors is where Mark felt the most at home. He enjoyed the challenge of hunting deer, bear, and going on his big elk hunts in Colorado; as well as fishing whenever he got the chance. In his younger years he competed in ice racing, mostly in Tilleda. Mark also enjoyed time in the forest cutting his firewood. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his quiet, easy-going nature, and how easily he remembered everyone’s name.
