Stanley James Westfahl, age 74 of the Township of Pella, Shawano County, passed away on November 5, 2023 at home surrounded by family and friends as he left this life and entered his heavenly home with our Lord Jesus Christ after a long battle with Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

Stanley was born January 6, 1949 to the late James and Lerie Eve (Lohff) Westfahl in Clintonville. His family lived in the Clintonville area until his family moved to the home farm in the Township of Pella. He was a graduate of Shawano High School.

On September 11, 1976 Stan was united in marriage to Kathryn Netzel at Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline.

After graduation, Stan farmed with his parents until June of 1978 when the couple then purchased the home farm. He loved being a farmer and working with the animals, as well as planting and harvesting crops. As a farmer, his favorite tractor was the Cockshutt, which he had several different models.

He was a member of St. Paul Stony Hill Church Shawano, where he had served as an usher and on the church finance committee for many years. He also played church dartball for several years. He served as a past 4-H leader and was very involved with the Pella Park Committee for many years and also held the office of President. Stanley and his wife had the honor of being chosen as parade marshals for the Pella Daze parade several years ago. He was a board member and past Vice President for the Gresham Coop/Mid County Cooperative for fifteen years and Lynhurst Shipping for a term.

Stan loved watching and listening to sports both pro and high school games. He played BABA baseball for the Caroline Cougars and was honored to have been inducted into the Cougars Baseball Hall of Fame.

Many of Stan’s hobbies included the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and was known for his sharp-shooting skills. He also enjoyed coon hunting and loved shining deer in the Fall trying to spot the ever elusive “Chairman of the Board” meaning his big buck. Being out in the woods making firewood and tapping trees to make maple syrup was also an enjoyment. Although he was no longer able to farm himself, you couldn’t take the farmer out of him. He would go for drives around the neighborhood checking to see how fellow farmers were coming along either planting or harvesting crops, or 4-wheeling rides around the farm to see the progress being made on the land he rented out after retiring was something he looked forward to.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Kathryn Westfahl; his children, Katie Westfahl of Green Bay, Brian (Amy Olson) Westfahl of Clintonville, and Bradley (Jessica) Westfahl of Shawano; his sister, Eileen (Fred) Tesch of Neenah; his brother-in-law, Edmund Beil of Shawano; his sister-in-law Mary (Bill) Jakl of Hortonville; brother in-law William (Nancy) Netzel of Clintonville; sister-in-law Rochelle Netzel of Appleton; his nephews, Matthew Tesch of Appleton, Tony (Sandy) Tesch of Kiel, Andrew (Diane} Netzel of Appleton, and Philip (Amanda) Netzel of St. Cloud, MN, Dylan Netzel of Caroline, and Forrest (friend Gracie) Netzel of Clintonville; his nieces Tina (Dave) Netzel-Horres, Julie Buraimoh of Appleton, Jenny (Dave) Jakl of Neenah, Jessica MacPherson (friend Walt) of Kaukauna, and Aubrey (friend Eric) Netzel of Medford and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lerie Eve Westfahl, his father and mother in law, Lloyd and Meta Netzel, his sister Sharon, and brother-in-law Michael Netzel.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday November 11, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill, Township of Richmond, with the Rev. Steven Conradt officiating. Interment will take place at St. Paul Stony Hill Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Richmond following the service.

Visitation will be held at the church from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 10, 2023; and again on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service.
