SHAWANO, WI- A family fun event with the goal of helping the Shawano Area Humane Society is taking place on Saturday. The Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser will be at the Shawano Dog Park from 11:00am until 3:00pm. Madeline Stuewer of the Shawano Park and Recreation Department says the idea is to help the humane society.
“It takes about $20,000 dollars a month to run their facility,” Stuewer said. “We just want to try to help them.”
From 11:00am until 12:00 noon, a vet will be on hand to answer any questions. The event also includes an opportunity to get you dog’s nails cut. The highlight of the day may be the tennis ball throwing and recovery tournament. Live music and food will be included.
Stuewer says dogs should be on a leash and well behaved, but they are welcome to come and join in the fun.
“You can bring your whole family, including the furry members of your family.
As far as the humane society, there are countless cats and dogs who are in desperate need of help. Options include adopting, volunteering, or providing financial support.
“Our local animal shelter, Shawano County Humane Society, is at its full capacity,” said Pam Nowak, Executive Director of the Humane Society. “Every little bit of your support can have a profound impact on the lives of these innocent animals.”
