Lori L. Penass, age 57 of Keshena, began her journey to the Spirit World on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Lori was born December 21, 1965, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Peter Paul Penass Sr and
the late Elvira (Oshkeshequoam) Penass. She attended school at the Inter Mountain Tribal School and later graduated from the Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota. Following school, she returned to Keshena and surrounded herself with family and friends. Lori loved her grandchildren and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include four children, Onawa (special friend, Michael Pamonicutt, Jr.) Penass, Garrick Penass, and Jonnie Penass, all of Green Bay, and Myron Penass of Keshena; nine grandchildren,
Ottis, Jennifer, Gracie, Omri, Tanaes, Garrick Jr, Lariyah, Aalliyah, and Kalix; eight brothers and sisters, Leslie “Easter” (Michael) Shawanokasic, Ellie Penass, Tereasa Penass, David “Snookers”
Penass, Jane Penass, Antionette “Basa” Penass, Charlotte Penass, and Louis Penass, all of Keshena; her special friends, Ruthie Peters and Jeff Osher; and several nieces and nephews. Lori was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Cairo Penass; and three brothers, Peter Paul Penass Jr., Leon “Sal” Penass, and Barney Penass.
A Traditional Native American service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Menominee Tribal Community Center in Neopit. Visitation will begin at the Community Center after 11:00 am on Thursday, July 27, 2023, and continue until the hour of service on Friday. A Prayer Service for Lori will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
