SHAWANO, WI- Construction of a new SMU service center will be taking place this fall. The state recently approved the building of a new $12.9 million dollar center at the current site. Officials say the current building is aging and is inefficient.
The demolition will start in late July or early August, and the construction of the new location could get underway in September.
The current location on North Sawyer Street and East Green Bay Street is a 21,000-square foot facility.
Bruce Gomm, SMU General Manager says the new building should be complete by early fall of 2024. The new facility will be 29,000 square feet and will be more of a modern facility.
